टीम इंडिया को रविवार को शारजाह में महिला टी20 विश्व कप के अपने आखिरी ग्रुप ए मैच में ऑस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ नौ रन से करारी हार का सामना करना पड़ा। इस हार से भारत की सेमीफाइनल में पहुंचने की उम्मीदों को गहरा झटका लगा है। हालांकि, पाकिस्तान और न्यूजीलैंड के बीच मैच का नतीजा आखिरकार टूर्नामेंट में हरमनप्रीत कौर एंड कंपनी की किस्मत का फैसला करेगा। ऑस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ, पहले गेंदबाजी करने के लिए कहे जाने के बाद, भारत ने गत चैंपियन को 151/8 पर रोक दिया।हालाँकि, ऑस्ट्रेलिया कार्यवाही में हावी रहा क्योंकि भारत केवल 142/9 स्कोर ही बना सका।

20वें ओवर में भारत को जीत के लिए 14 रनों की जरूरत थी और हरमनप्रीत स्ट्राइक पर थीं। हालांकि पिच गेंदबाजों के पक्ष में थी, हरमनप्रीत अर्धशतक बनाने में सफल रहीं और उम्मीद थी कि वह अपनी टीम को जीत के पार ले जाएंगी।

हालाँकि, कप्तान ने पहली गेंद पर सिंगल लिया और पूजा वस्त्राकर को स्ट्राइक पर लाया। 

तेज गेंदबाज एनाबेल सदरलैंड ने दूसरी गेंद पर वस्त्राकर को क्लीन बोल्ड किया, उसके बाद तीसरी गेंद पर अरुंधति रेड्डी को रन आउट किया। चौथी गेंद पर हरमनप्रीत वापस स्ट्राइक पर थीं लेकिन वह फिर से सिंगल के लिए गईं और श्रेयंका पाटिल को स्ट्राइक पर ले आईं। जब केवल दो गेंदों पर 12 रनों की जरूरत थी, पाटिल एक वाइड गेंद पर रन आउट हो गए, इसके बाद अगली गेंद पर राधा यादव एलबीडब्ल्यू आउट हो गईं।

एक गेंद शेष रहते हुए, रेणुका सिंह ने एक रन के लिए दौड़ लगाई और ऑस्ट्रेलिया ने नौ रन से गेम जीत लिया।
